Frequently Asked Questions
What is Kelmti?
Kelmti (كلمتي, "my word") is a daily word puzzle in Maghrebi Darija. Each day there is one hidden word and you have six tries to guess it. After each guess, the tiles light up: green means the letter is in the right spot, yellow means it is in the word but in a different spot, and gray means it is not in the word.
Is Kelmti free?
Yes. Kelmti is completely free to download and play. It is supported by occasional, non-intrusive ads, which are never shown in the middle of a guess.
Which dialects can I play in?
Three Maghrebi dialects: Moroccan (المغربية), Algerian (الجزائرية) and Tunisian (التونسية). Each has its own carefully built word list. You can switch dialect any time from Settings — your streak and stats stay with you.
How is the daily word chosen?
There is one word per day, and it is the same for everyone playing the same dialect. The word changes at midnight Maghreb time (Africa/Casablanca), so players across the Maghreb and the diaspora all get the same puzzle on the same day.
How do hints work?
There are two gentle hints. The category hint tells you what kind of word it is (for example "an animal" or "food"). After four wrong guesses, you can reveal one letter in the current row. Using a hint never spoils the answer, and revealing a letter still counts as a win — it does not break your streak.
My guess was rejected. Why?
A guess must be a real word of the right length (4 to 7 letters) that exists in the dialect's word list. If you see "not in the dictionary", the word may be spelled differently or may not be in the list yet. Spelling is forgiving — you can type simple forms of letters like أ/إ/آ as ا.
How do I type letters like أ, ة, ڤ or پ?
The on-screen keyboard has all the everyday Darija letters, including ة. Five keys (ا, ي, و, ب, ف) have a small "…" badge — press and hold them to pick a variant such as أ, إ, آ, ء, ى, ئ, ؤ, پ or ڤ.
Can I change the app language?
Yes. The interface is available in French, Arabic (right-to-left) and English. Change it any time from Settings. The puzzle words themselves are always in Darija.
Does Kelmti work offline?
Yes. The daily word, the dictionary and your stats all work without an internet connection.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. Your streak, played count, win rate and guess distribution are saved on your device automatically. You do not need to create an account — Kelmti uses anonymous sign-in.
A word looks wrong or misspelled. What should I do?
The dictionaries were built and reviewed with care, but Darija is rich and spoken many ways. If a word looks wrong, misspelled or out of place, please tell us — include the dialect and the word. Your feedback directly improves the lists.
The app is crashing or not loading. What should I do?
Try these steps:
- Close the app completely and reopen it
- Make sure you have the latest version from the App Store or Google Play
- Restart your device
- If the problem persists, uninstall and reinstall the app
If none of these help, please contact us with a description of the issue and your device model.
How is my data used?
Kelmti stores your gameplay progress on your device. We do not sell your data. The app uses anonymous authentication and shows ads via Google AdMob. For full details, read our Privacy Policy.
